I’ve just bought my windows and doors from you! What happens next ?
As soon as we have measured up your windows and doors and chosen a style we take the measurements directly to our factory and
manufacture them for the perfect fit.

Can windows be fitted from the outside only ?
Our house is small and it would not be easy to get at the windows from the inside.Much of the work is done from the outside, but the glass is installed from the inside. We also need to trim the windows and re-plaster if necessary from the inside.

Would I need planning permission for my new windows and doors ?
Planning permission is only needed if the property is listed. If building work and structural changes are taking place you may still not need planning permission but building control. We will advise you on site.

How long will it take from placing the order for my new windows and doors, to actually having them installed in my home ?
This depends on the style/amount of windows/doors being ordered, but on average between 14 and 21 days.

Can doors be fitted to open inwards?
Yes, our doors can be fitted to open both inwards and outwards, and are available in many designs, finishes and glass options.

What does internally beaded mean?
The expression “internally beaded” means that the beading itself is located on the inside of the frame.

Are your frames steel reinforced?
Yes, we use the latest technology in all of our frames. You can be sure of the structural integrity and robustness with steel reinforcements where necessary.

What is PVCU?
PVCU stands for Polyvinyl Chloride Unplasticated – a durable, rigid plastic, it contains stabilizers to protect it from ultra violet rays, and strengthening agents to ensure the units do not warp or twist. PVCU is tough, hard-wearing and low maintenance – no painting required!

How can you guarantee me window and door frames for 10 years ?
Because all of our windows and doors are of a very high standard and are built to last.

Is 1^st Fit’s 10 year guarantee transferable ?
If the goods are paid for in full and the original contract holder moves house, then the remaining period of the guarantee is totally transferable to the new owner.

What is covered under your 10 year guarantee ?
All the UPVC frames are guaranteed against corrosion, weather proofing and reasonable faults that may occur as a result of inferior workmanship. Our guarantee is in addition to the manufacturers guarantee. See our guarantee page for more information.

How good is 1^st Fit’s customer care ?
Customer care and satisfaction is very important to us. We continue to work very hard to ensure you receive the highest level of customer care you deserve when replacing your windows and doors.

Does your guarantee cover locks and hinges ?
We guarantee to replace and repair any faulty products within 10 years of installing them – this does include locks and hinges.

Can I gain references from other satisfied 1^st Fit customers ?
Yes of course, references are available upon request.
